Kattre's Korner
Learning together. Growing together.
First of all, I'd like to say thank you for being so incredibly patient for this first post of the 2017-2018 school year. It's hard to believe we're already in our 8th week of school. How is that possible?? Besides being a mom, wife, and teacher, I am also adding 'student' to that resume. As of this fall, I am going back to school to get my masters degree. It's been quiet the undertaking already, but it's helping me be a better teacher! As far as room 28 as Westview, there has been so much growth within the kids already! I have quiet a few pictures I'd like to share with you in this one post, but from here on out I'd like to begin to add each event and post separately. The first few pictures are from September 8th, when we found a really cool worm at recess. Jaxen, Kyra, and Saege were pretty intrigued by it! We've decided it was a Tomato Hornworm. Let me tell you, it looked a lot bigger in person than it appears in the picture. Next is September 14th, when the students were doing some GoNoodle dancing. We use this AMAZING website to get our wiggles out during the long day. They love dancing! September 18th we worked on practicing the reading strategy of visualizing. This is when they make a picture or movie in their head of what they are reading (listening to). September 19th we had a few students from the UWP Biology department come in and show us some tadpoles. The kids made observations and drew pictures of the stages they saw the tadpoles in. These same students will come back October 31st to do a lesson for our class. We can't wait!! September 26th we started partner reading as it is an option during our Daily 5 time for reading. The kids did an amazing job of reading and worked so well together! Next are pictures from October 6th, where the whole class when to UWP for Wellness Day. We got to try out a bunch of different physical activities, including giant ball tag, noodle tag, drumming, and SWIMMING!! We even got to eat our sack lunches in the classroom! Click here to watch a video of some of our activities! Friday was also our homecoming parade. Keegan and Preston did a SUPERB job of carrying our banner! :) Enjoy the pictures! Next is last week when we began our science lessons. This unit we are learning about the states of matter. Pictured, we are exploring different items within a bag and discussing what these SOLIDS can be classified as and what materials make up each item. The last event for this mass post is from our visit to the Platteville Public Library today. We got to check out books, read in special windows with colored glass, and get some great exercise on the walk there and back! Thanks for tuning in, everyone!
If you don't mind, please leave a comment, letting me know you are here and viewing the site. The site itself tells me I have visitors, but not who was visiting. Have a great week! :D Mrs. K
